Inclusivity

An inclusive practice

As a member of several marginalised communities, I aim to use my experience to increase my understanding of others.

I provide an affirming space to those of gender, sexual and relationship diversities, including all members of the LGBTQ+ community. Following the UK Supreme Court ruling on 16th April 2025, that the term ‘woman’ in the Equality Act 2010 refers only to ‘biological sex’, it is important to clearly state that trans and non-binary identities will be affirmed and intersex people recognised at Insight Homeopathy. I am hopeful that there will be a successful appeal to this ruling, but also that this situation will encourage inclusive organisations to be explicit about welcoming trans and non-binary people into spaces where their identities are accepted and supported.

I support the social model of disability and neurodivergent identities. While aspects of neurodiversity may assist in selecting a remedy to suit you, this will not pathologise your identity or aim to change who you are. With homeopathy, symptoms relating to neurodiversity which reduce your quality of life can be improved, and a postive self identity can flourish. I have found the following articles written by Janae Elisabeth of Trauma Geek useful in distinguishing traits of autism and ADHD from trauma symptoms and symptoms of distress in people with those neurotypes:

Autistic Traits vs Autistic Trauma

Innate ADHD vs. Symptoms of Distress

I attempt to find appointment spaces suited to each client's needs but this is not always easy, for example one place we could meet has a gender neutral toilet but is not wheelchair accessible. I am happy to work with clients on finding comfortable spaces to meet and appointments can be online if that works best.

I have taken anti-racism training and would welcome being called in if any of my actions are causing harm to minority communities. I recognise that it is not the responsibility of any marginalised group to educate me and continue to work to improve my understanding through reading and listening to members of Black and minority ethnicities writing and speaking on these topics.

If you have any requirements relating to a disability, or anything which would make you feel more comfortable at your appointment, then please get in touch with me to discuss how I can help.
